Serious as a…

A couple of days ago, Rick was going to empty the trash cans and saw a guy laying in the road.   The guys wife said he just dropped.   They ran to the store and called 911 and the sheriffs.

Then Rick ran back to the guy and checked him.  He was turning blue and had no pulse.  Rick thought he was a goner, but then the guy let out a moan. So Rick started CPR.  He said he could feel the sternum break on the first compression.

Rick continued CPR for about 10 minutes before the first paramedic arrived on a motorcycle.  They continued CPR for several more minutes, then the ambulance arrived and they took over from Rick.  Then the sheriff’s Deputies and a med evac helicopter arrived.  The paramedics hooked the guy up to at least 3 IVs,  shocked him 3 times, and continued the CPR.

Finally, after nearly an hour, they got the poor guy’s heart going, got him stabilized and loaded him on the helicopter and flew him out to a hospital.

We have since heard that he has had open heart surgery and has recovered enough to talk to his family members.

Did I mention that this happened on FRIDAY?  You know, that chinese fortune cookie didn’t say which Friday was going to be exciting…..
