We’re Ba-a-a-ack!

We arived in OKC yesterday.  Despite the nasty crosswind we fought all day coming across the plains on I-40. The rest rest of the trip was easy and uneventful.  We took I-10 from Tucson to Deming, NM on Tues.  26 adn I-25 tu Tijeras,NM just east of Albuquerque on Wed. I-40 to Amarillo, Tx on Thurs.  Then more I-40 to OKC on Friday.

Shortly after leaving Amarillo we heard a nasty banging on the upper left side of the motorhome.  The awning that tops the slideout was getting pulled out by the wind and banging on the roof and slapping back into place!!!  😯 YIKES!!!
So we found a spot to pull off the road.  Got the ladder out and climbed up and duck-taped the goofy thing to the roof and side.  We might not have looked very classy, but it kept the wind from unrolling the awning the rest of the day.

Spring may be coming, but it hasn’t gotten to Oklahoma yet.  Our water hose froze last night, despite being wrapped in pipe insulation.  Right now (at 10 am) it is a mere 34F/1.1C outside with an 18 mph wind giving a wind chill of 21F/-6.1C.

Two things I always take on my caravan holidays are a ladder and heavy-duty tape 😉

Duct tape – Is there anything it can’t fix, other than possibly a rainy day?
