Blood Work

Well, the doctor was very happy with the results of Richard’s blood work.  His numbers were much improved.  Unfortunately, part of getting better from gout involves getting lots of little uric acid crystal flowing.  And it seems they have been flowing into his joints, which is what is causing all the pain.  We were pleased that the doctor actually recognized and remembered Richard.  He spent nearly an hour with us — examining Richard and explaining the process of gout and the changes he is making to Richard’s meds.

We got home shortly after noon, ate some lunch and both took a loooooong nap.

    This wants stating in English.

My Dad had gout, and his doctor said that the crystal formation was excited/exascerbated by the tannins in red wine and the stuff that occasionally forms crystals in hard cheese (particularly strong “red” cheese).

Sounds like everything will be better eventually – yay for the light at the end of the tunnel.
