Stop Me If You’ve Heard This Before

Yesterday we went to the VA hospital to change Richard’s address and get a refill on one of his prescriptions that had expired, and set up an appointment for him to establish new doctors here. Got there shortly before noon.

Got the address change made, no problem. Next to get the expired prescription refilled.

Of course, we got to play the waiting room game.  First we had to go to the ER to get triaged so they could send us to Urgent Care.  Even though we knew we needed to go to Urgent Care, we couldn’t just go straight there.  So we sat in the ER waiting room for while.  Then we sat in the Urgent Care waiting room for a while.   Finally saw the doctor around 2.  And he wanted to run some blood tests.  We went to the Lab — very short wait there.  Then we went to the snack bar and got a bite to eat and returned to Urgent Care to wait for the results of the blood test.

After a very long wait, the doctor came and said he had called the lab for Richard’s results and was told that the machine that runs the test he wanted was broke, but they were working on it and would have his results after awhile.  When the results came in, the doctor didn’t like Richard’s kidney numbers.

And since Richard is new to their facility and doesn’t have any assigned doctors, he decided to keep Richard overnight so they can run more tests and get him into their system a little faster.  🙄  And of course, all this managed to take until about 5.  Then we got to wait around until 8 for them to get a bed for him.  🙄

We got him settled in and they ran an EKG, which the tech was extremely impressed with until we pointed out that Richard has a pacemaker.

I got home around 10:20 to a cat who wanted to know why his food dish was empty.  Blargh!!!!

Some things are the same regardless of geography… Hugs to both of you, hope everything works out well and quickly!

  3. *sigh* Well, it IS the VA, and you guys have been dealing with them for a long time, so you know this is pretty much par for their course. Now, as for Bud… you mean, you didn’t arrange to have someone come over and put food in his dish? I mean, really! *huff puff*

So, Richard gets to come home today, right? YAAAAAAAAAAAY! 🙂

Sheesh! Isn’t there any way that his VA records can be transferred from Minneapolis down there? I mean sheesh!!! Guess it’s the same when changing civilian doctors. They all want to run the same tests over and over again. Hope you got some rest and that Richard’s tests come out okay and he’s home today. Poor Bud, he’s was neglected all day – not even a walk. How inconsiderate (sorry for the snerk).

Hope the day ended more peacefully than it started! I love that you now have Bud and the new patio picture as your banner on this site.
