Greetings from Colorado Springs!!
We decided to celebrate our birthdays (which both fall in August) by taking a trip to the mountains. So we flew to Denver, rented a car and drove down here on Tuesday and will stay a week. I didn’t bring my laptop, just my iPad and I have no idea how to get pictures from my camera onto the iPad, so you will have to wait until I get home to see them.
Wednesday we drove out to the Garden of the Gods, which is a fabulous city park with enormous rock formations. They are sedimentary rocks which have been upended and rise vertically from the valley floor.
Today we drove back to Denver to get the GPS the rental company gave us replaced. It kept rebooting because its power cord wouldn’t stay connected. If we’re going to pay for a GPS, it damn well needs to work!! At least the weather was nice and it is so good to look out over the rolling landscape and up at the mountains. So the trip wasn’t bad, just redundant.
This afternoon, we went to a model railroad shop that was so good it gave Richard goosebumps! We escaped with only a little smoke rising off of his credit card.
So far, the food here has been fabulous. Tuesday we ate at My Big Fat Greek Restaurant: how can you go wrong with a meal that starts with flaming cheese? Yesterday lunch was at the Mason Jar, a down home cafe with excellent soup and chicken fried steak. Today was Tuconos(?) a Brazilian restaurant where they bring skewers of meats to your table and slice it off onto your plate.
More adventures await us tomorrow!!
