Saturday Update

Irma’s eye is now projected to pass to the west of us.  Our projected high winds will be around 79 mph from 10 pm to 6 am Sunday night to Monday morning.  Our rainfall is forecast to be around 15 inches.  We have had rainfalls similar to that before with other storms without any problems.

Of course, all this can change at any time.

This morning we gathered up all the loose items from our yard and put them in the garage.

Right now we have a light breeze of 4 mph and bright sunshine.

I know you’re house is well-built and you are well-prepared. I so glad about that. 🙂
I’m wondering, though, where does 15 inches of rain go when it falls in your neighborhood?

Our neighorhood of Meadow Pointe has literally hundreds of retention ponds that drain into the conservation areas (aka cyress swamps). If you go to google Maps and zoom in on the satellite view of Iverson Drive in Wesley Chapel, Florida you can see all the ponds and swamps. Our house sits about 8 to 10 feet above the water overflow point of the pond out back. It drains out the south east corner and we sit on the north bank.
