Sept. 29, ’06 Durango, Co

Retirement is so nice. Some days we sleep in until 10 or 11; some days we are up at 5. Some days we travel all day, some days we do nothing all day.

First we went to S. Dakota and got our paperwork done. Saved a bundle on our vehicle tags and insurance. Then we visited my folks in Minnesota for two weeks. We were camped at a little county park called Oxbow. One morning I took a hike down a trail and saw a doe with her two fawns.

From Minnesota we headed to the Rockies to enjoy the fall colors on the front range. But Mother Nature had other plans for us. She sent a winter storm, so we spent two days skirting the mountains and ended up in Durango. Which gave us a chance to ride the Durango & Silverton train. The train runs right through our campground so I got some pictures of it roaring past the campers as well as one of our motorhome from the train on our way back.
